Our second daughter turned TWO last week! It’s crazy how time just slips through your fingers when you have little ones! Unlike her party animal sister, whose birthday bash was just a couple weeks ago, this sweet one isn’t big on crowds or being the focus of everyone’s attention all at once. We decided having one family over for dinner and desert was probably just right… and it was! With really little ones, we’ve learned (the hard way!) that big parties often overwhelm them and they don’t enjoy being celebrated as much we hoped they would. Simple and special is the way to go.
Our birthday girl LOOOVES ice cream, so that was the theme of our mini soirée. We made mini burger sliders for dinner, served with some simple sides. For dessert, I made fun mini ice cream cone cupcakes with swiss meringue buttercream for little hands, and a mini five layer birthday cake for her to blow out her candles. It was fun, simple, and most importantly, she had an excellent birthday!
