Is it warm where you are? Or are you seeing gray skies and a thin, icy blanket of snow on the ground, too? If only it were the fluffy, powdery kind you can play with, I might be more excited about it! The bad part is that we don’t want to leave the house, the good part is that we’re being forced to acknowledge all the tasks we’ve been procrastinating on! I’ve mentioned before that we have a big move coming up this summer (even though we still don’t know where we are going for certain!) and, because of that, we absolutely must tackle purging all the things we don’t need in our future. How have we accumulated so much stuff?!
Our weekend agenda consists of playing with the kids while we sort through our basement, bedrooms, and garage (yeah right, we won’t actually get that far!). We’ll hopefully at least get a car load of things donated or re-homed. And then comes the planning. Planning for two different moves, in hopes that it will help us make the best choice for our future. Victor Hugo wrote, “The straight line, a respectable optical illusion which ruins many a man.” It just keeps playing over and over again in my mind as we are faced with two risky choices: a safe choice, which is not only boring, but also veers greatly from our lifestyle and longterm goals; and a wild choice, which involves a whole lot of faith, planning, and uncertainty. To risk our happiness or our security blanket? Stay tuned- this site may get interesting!
In the mean time, I hope you are having a productive and playful weekend! How are you spending your time on these winter weekends?
