We stumbled upon these beautiful painted porcelain knobs last fall and I thought they’d be great for stocking holders. All we did was take a round log (about 4 inches in diameter) from our pile of firewood and saw pieces into our desired lengths. I wanted them to stand at slightly different heights and to be a little uneven on top. From there, Ben very gently hammered the knobs in, about 2 inches from the bottom (even though they are different heights, placing the knobs at the same level keeps them looking uniform). They turned out exactly as I pictured in my head! They are secure and heavy enough that they don’t slide off the mantel when the stockings are full of Christmas goodies. Voilà! Inexpensive and lovely stocking hangers to match our mantel style!
